Diane Hammar has owned a professional photography business in Asheville, North Carolina for the past seven years.  She developed a new passion over the last few years and has taken her love of nature and animals to a higher level.  Diane has built on her skills as a photographer to become a dynamic oil and acrylic painter. 

She started painting several years ago, learning and working with different techniques and mediums.  Diane felt drawn to the thickness, texture and colors of oil and has fallen in love with the palette knife as one of her methods of putting paint on canvas.

As a professional photographer, she has taken and saved thousands of digital photos.  Diane won several first place awards in photography and is known for having a sharp eye for composition and detail.  Over the years, she has noticed that photographs stored in her computer were often forgotten as they disappeared into storage.  Diane's artistic nature wanted more of herself and more of her photos.

Creating oil paintings from her own photographs now allows her a new kind of access to her eye for beauty and color.  Diane's photography studio has become an art studio with the fresh smell of paint and the messiness that comes from storing your work out in the open.
